“Everything we're singing about is true, and even when you take away all the glitz, it's still true in the darkest, ugliest and most hopeless places.”

“As soon as you're willing to humble yourself and say, God, please help — then you can find out that His strength really is perfect, that He really does care for you, that He does really want to meet your need.”

“Let us remember that this scene [the Nativity] represents so much more than just a touching story or a nostalgic holiday fairytale. It is, in fact, a reminder of the most amazing reality: That God came, and God spoke. Peace on earth, God is with us. And the God who spoke still speaks. And the God who came still comes. This is the true Miracle of Christmas – that as we stand here tonight in our real world with our real lives full of problems and questions, past hurts and future hopes, God is with us.”

“There’s obviously always danger in making music or art for art’s sake. Even as Christians we can be guilty of that, being more about the art than the Artist who gave us this gift.”

“Wherever we are, God's in that moment, God's speaking to us, and if we've just got our ears open and our antennas up, there's no lack of inspiration. He's not silent. We just have to be listening.”

“Remember the day The first signs of trouble The dust and the rubble Unspeakable loss And remember the day The courage and valor That ran to the towers At such a great cost Remember the day How we were shaken And our hearts awakened To what matters most.”

“Rеmember the day Thе flags that were waving As something awakened In our broken hearts And remember the way The flood of compassion Swept through our nation And lit up the dark And remember the day That brought us together And showed us the power We have when we're one.”

“Remember the day The scarred and the broken The words left unspoken The songs left unsung Remember to pray For comfort and healing For wisdom in leading 'Til the journey is done And remember the way And we looked past what divides us To find the light inside us And let that light shine.”

“On September 11, 2002, I was traveling from Nashville to New York City with my band to be part of a night of remembrance at Madison Square Garden. As we drove in, the memories of September 11, 2001 came flooding back — Mary Beth and Shaoey and I had been in Washington, D.C. on that tragic day and watched out our hotel window as fighter jets flew just over the rooftops while smoke rose in the distance from the Pentagon. I wrote "Remember the Day" to sing that 1st anniversary night in New York to help process our shared grief, honor those who lost their lives, and celebrate the courage, sacrifice, and compassion that brought our country together in the midst of unimaginable loss. I never recorded it before this album, but decided the 25th anniversary seemed like the right time. It’s my hope and prayer that as we remember that day when so much and so many were lost, we’ll also "remember the way the flood of compassion swept though out nation and lit up the dark." Romans 12:21 reminds us: "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good"….We have experienced the power and truth of those words before … may we remember that those words are still true, even as "Remember The Day.”
